Filter Selections Lost When Published View Automatically Reloads

Published: 16 Apr 2015

Issue

When a published view automatically re-loads, the filter and parameter selections are reset to default.

Environment

  • Tableau Cloud
  • Tableau Server

Resolution

As a possible workaround, consider the below options.

Option 1 Create a Custom View
Creating a custom view with frequently selected filter selections so they are not lost when the view automatically reloads. See Use Custom Views for more information.

Option 2 Append the Filter or Parameter Values Using URL Parameters
Passing the filter or parameter values using URL query strings will load those selections by default, so that when the view automatically reloads, the filters are not reset. See Adding parameters to the base URL for more information.

Cause

The ability to retain filter and parameter selections after a published view's page is reloaded is not currently built-in to the product.
