Error "DataValue::MakeSpecial: bad argument" when Opening Workbook

Problema

When you try to open a workbook, the following error message might occur:
 
DataValue::MakeSpecial: bad argument

Entorno

  • Tableau Desktop
  • Unpackaged workbook

Solución

Follow these steps:
  1. Open the workbook and click OK to bypass the error messages.
  2. Select the "Data Source"  tab on the bottom left of the Tableau Desktop window
  3. Connect to the Excel file.
  4. Save the workbook under a new name.

Causa

The datasource was renamed.
