When Signing in to Tableau Cloud with Multi-Factor Authentication, Salesforce Authenticator Does Not Show an Authorization Request

Issue

When signing in to Tableau Cloud with multi-factor authentication (MFA), the MFA dialog pops up but no notification is received on the Salesforce Authenticator side. Also, you may be unable to sign in after manually entering the verification code.

Environment

Tableau Desktop
Tableau Cloud with multi-factor authentication
Salesforce Authenticator

Resolution

Option 1

Reboot your smart phone and check if the Salesforce Authenticator pushes an authorization request.

Option 2

1. Contact the Site Administrator on your Tableau Cloud site to have them reset your MFA verifiers. See Regain site access after being locked out for steps.
2. Re-register Salesforce Authenticator referring to Register for multi-factor authentication.
