Viz in Tooltip Does Not Filter Data on Initial Load When Blended Datasources Are In Use

When opening a workbook in Tableau Desktop 10.5, the Viz in Tooltips created from a data source, that is not used in the target worksheet, do not filter as expected on initial load. Expected filtering only occurs after making a selection on the dashboard.

To bypass this behavior, try the following workaround:

It will be necessary to create a blank worksheet, created from the Viz in Tooltip data source, and add it to the dashboard view. This worksheet can be set to floating and resized so that it does not overlap any other elements in the dashboard view.

NOTE: The blank worksheet will tell Tableau to load the data source upon opening the workbook (or viewing the published dashboard).

The ability to utilize Viz in Tooltips with a dashboard containing blended datasources works only under limited circumstances. In some cases, the data source connection to the secondary data source needs to loaded before the expected filtering takes effect.
