Virtual Connection Data Policy Does Not Support ISMEMBEROF()

Issue

After creating a virtual connection using ISMEMBEROF() function in data policy, the following error is displayed when trying to use that connection to create a workbook:

Unknown error: An error occurred while accessing data. Contact your Tableau administrator. (code=13)

The published connection returns no data in Tableau Desktop or when using the Web Edit option on Tableau Server.

Environment

Tableau Server versions older than 2022.3.6 (18 May 2023)
Windows Server

Resolution

Upgrade to Tableau Server version 2022.3.6 or newer.

Cause

This is a known issue that is resolved in more recent version of Tableau Server.
