Same View Renders Differently on Two Windows Computers

Issue

The same view renders differently on two Windows computers.

For example, on one of the computers, when viewing a particular dashboard based on the Superstore sample workbook, some of the axis labels are cut off, and the rows of the bar chart are compressed together. Or, the text renders normally on one computer, but appears as pound signs (###) instead on another computer.

Environment

  • Tableau Desktop
  • Windows

Resolution

To troubleshoot this issue, carry out the following steps:
  1. Check the DPI scaling on each computer: In Control Panel, select Appearance and Personalization > Display > Use these display settings. One computer will probably be found to be at 150%, while the other computer at 100%.
  2. On the affected computer, change the DPI scaling to 100%.
  3. Close Tableau Desktop.
  4. Press the Windows key + L to lock the screen, and then sign in to Windows again (or simply restart the computer).

Cause

The DPI scaling settings on the computers are different.
