Issue
Unable to sign in successfully to Tableau Server from Tableau Prep Builder - no error message is displayed.
Additionally, changing the site role of the same user to one with access to fewer projects may enable the user to sign in successfully.

Resolution
Option 1
Upgrade to Tableau Server 2020.3 or newer.Option 2
- In the Tableau Prep Builder logs, check in preprestapi.log for a line entry that contains Bad Request.
- The list of projects names and descriptions that precede the Bad Request message may end with (or partway through) a name or description. This project name or description would contain a special character that causes the error.
- In Tableau Server, locate the project with the name or description containing the special character, remove this character, and save the change.
Cause
One of the project names or descriptions contains a special character which results in an invalid XML response.This behavior is related to Issue ID 1077191, which has been resolved in Tableau Server 2020.3 and newer.
