Unable To Sign In To Tableau Cloud Or Tableau Server From Tableau Desktop When Using Client Certificate For Workspace ONE Access

Unable to sign in to Tableau Cloud or Tableau Server from Tableau Desktop when using certificates in the local certificate store for Workspace ONE Access.

Access denied.

The issue doesn't occur when using a Web browser or connecting through a virtual private network (VPN).


  • Tableau Desktop
  • Workspace ONE Access
  • Certificate-based authentication (require the client to authenticate with a certificate)


Workaround 1:
Use Tableau Desktop 2021.1 or a newer version.

Workaround 2:
Connect through a virtual private network (VPN).


This is a known issue that is fixed in more recent version of Tableau Desktop.
Need to upgrade Tableau Desktop to work with Workspace ONE Access certificate.
