Unable to login to Tableau Cloud after enabling SAML "Signature failed validation"

Issue

When testing SAML SSO after configuring SAML, a user failed to login. You may find the following error message in the 'tableau_authentication.log' file :

cause=[Exception processing SAML Response; caused by: ResponseImpl: Signature failed validation]

Environment

  • Tableau Cloud
  • SAML

Resolution

Check with the IdP admin to make sure that the certificate being used in the IdP metadata file that is uploaded to Tableau Cloud matches the certificate used for generating the signature. 

Cause

The certificate being used in the IdP metadata file did not match the certificate used for generating the signature.
