Tableau DesktopResolution
Option 1
Starting with Tableau Desktop 10.2, the ability to customize joins using calculations was added to the product to resolve format mismatches between fields. For more information, see Join Your Data.Option 2
For earlier Tableau Desktop versions, the ability to join on calculated fields was not built into Tableau Desktop. When tables or data sources are joined, a query reflecting the join is sent to the data source. Calculated Fields exist at the workbook level, not the data source level.Try one of the following workarounds:
- Use Data blending. For details, see Blend Your Data.
- Use Custom SQL. For more information, see Connect to a Custom SQL Query.
Additional Information
Not all data sources are available for cross-database joins. For more information, see Combine tables from different databases.Discuss this article... Feedback Forum
