Unable to Export Logs or Create Backups

Issue

Generating Tableau Server logs fails and so does creating backups after attempting from theTSM WebUI or CLI in Tableau Server 2018.3.2. 

Additionally, the following errors might be found in the logs: 

[...] ERROR com.tableausoftware.tabadmin.webapp.asyncjobs.JobStepRunner - Running step WriteZiplogsToDisk failed
java.lang.RuntimeException: java.lang.InterruptedException

And

[...] WARN com.tableausoftware.tabadmin.webapp.asyncjobs.ZiplogsJob - Error recording archive metadata. Message null

Environment

  • Tableau Server 2018.3.5
  • Windows Server 2012
  • MemSQL

Cause

There was a conflict between legacy Tableau Server files, such files were left behind after previous upgrades. Please note that this behavior is related to a known issue (ID: 838895) which has been fixed in a recent release of Tableau Server.
