Environment
Tableau Server 2018.2 and later versionsResolution
Remotely connect to the Tableau Server host and confirm TSM is running on port 8850.If the TSM connection is successful from the Tableau Server host machine directly, work with your IT/Network team to configure the network device to allow external HTTPS traffic to reach port 8850.
Cause
The load balancer / proxy is not routing HTTPS traffic to port 8850.Additional Information
Please note: If Tableau Server is running on AWS and is configured with AWS Application Load Balancer (ALB), the Load balancer needs to be set up with 2 target groups: one for port 80 (or 443 if Tableau Server is SSL-enabled) and the other for port 8850. Additionally, Security groups in AWS must be configured to allow traffic between ALB and the Tableau Server host's port 8850 both incoming and outgoing. Please work with the AWS administrator or AWS Technical Support for additional assistance with this configuration.Discuss this article... Feedback Forum
