Unable connect to Salesforce from Tableau Desktop and the following error occurs:

Bad Connection: Tableau could not connect to the data source.

  • Tableau Desktop 


Work with the Salesforce Administrator to ensure the following is enabled for the Company account and the user profile configuration:
  • SOAP API for signing in

  • REST API for getting meta data

  • BULK API for downloading objects

  • REST API for downloading objects that the BULK API does not support

  • Replication SOAP APIs for retrieving changes in the data


Environmental - Permissions.
Salesforce doesn't allow Tableau to connect.
