Issue

When saved under the C: drive location directly from Tableau Desktop, the twbx file does not inherit Windows folder permissions.

Environment

Tableau Desktop

Resolution

Option 1

If you are using Windows 7, try to apply one of the following Microsoft fixes: Note this does not apply to Windows 10.

Option 2

If there is a separate volume/drive available on the machine, try to save the workbooks to the other drive, or change the temporary folder to the other drive.

Option 3

Set the permissions of the temporary folder the same as the target folder - it does not need to be shared.
  a. Open Windows Explorer.
  b. Type "%TEMP%" (without quotes) in the address bar and press Enter.
  c. The temporary folder should be opened and the contents are shown in Windows Explorer.
  d. Locate the folder "TableauTemp".
  e. Make its permission settings same as the target folder.
