The Value in Reference Line Multiplied When Adding Dimension in Mark Card

Issue

The reference line value is multiplied when a dimension is added in [Color] or other items in [Mark] card.

For example, in the below image, the value for the reference line is 4 and 5.

However, after the dimension [Category] is added to the [Color] card, the value in the reference line doubled when nothing else changes.

Environment

Resolution

Option 1

Make a calculation to adjust the value in the reference line.

1. Add a calculation as below
AVG([Target])/WINDOW_MAX(INDEX())

2. Use the calculation in step 1 as a reference line and set the table calculation to compute using the added Dimension.

Option 2

Use dual axis to show reference line.

1. Add the [Value] twice in the view and delete the dimension for the second measure.

2. Make Dual-asix to show the reference line.

4. Synchronize Axis for the second measure and uncheck [Show Header]

Cause

This is by design. The items in the dimension will make the value in the reference line multiplied.
For example, 2 items will double the value and 3 items will triple the value.
