"The following features aren't compatible with your server version" When Attempting to Publish a Tableau Prep Flow

Issue

When attempting to publish a Tableau Prep Builder flow utilizing a non-compatible feature with your version of Tableau Server, "The following features aren't compatible with your server version..." error occurs, indicating that the Prep Flow can be published to Tableau Server, but will not be able to run on a schedule (example error below):

Resolution

If a matching (or newer) major version of Tableau Server is available:

Upgrade Tableau Server

If a matching (or newer) major version of Tableau Server is not yet available:

As a potential workaround, you can still run incompatible flows manually in Tableau Prep Builder or using the command line. For more information about this process, see Refresh flow output files from the command line.

Cause

In some instances, due to the Tableau Server release cadence, some features released in Tableau Prep (e.g. version 2023.2) are not yet supported in Tableau Server as there is no matching Tableau Server version (e.g. Tableau Server 2023.2 does not exist). Additional Information

For instances where no matching (or newer) Tableau Server version currently exists, the Tableau Server major version released immediately following the Tableau Prep major version will allow for any incompatible features to be utilized in Tableau Server (unless otherwise stated).
