Tableau Desktop Background Process Does Not Stop for a While in an Environment Where a Proxy Is Configured

Issue

After closing Tableau Desktop, the background process does not terminate for a while (about 10 - 15 minutes) in an environment where a proxy is configured and the internet communication is not possible without the proxy. It occurs even when not connected to any data source.

Environment

  • Tableau Desktop
  • Proxy
  • Windows / Mac

Resolution

Tableau Desktop can be restarted normally and there's no impact on the operations. Tableau Desktop processes running in the background will terminate after about 15 mins, but they can be manually terminated from the Task Manager if necessary. 
 

Cause

This is a known issue, W-12935722, that is currently under investigation by the development team.
