After starting Tableau Bridge, the client displays "loading data sources" for 1-2 minutes, then the UI closes and disappears from system tray

  • Tableau Bridge
  • Windows 10 or Windows Server 2019 with Controlled Folder Access enabled on the My Documents directory or the My Tableau Bridge Repository directory.

Option 1

Upgrade to Tableau Server 2019.3 or a newer version. See Tableau Server Downloads and Release Notes for downloads of current and previous versions of Tableau Server.
For more information on current releases, see Upgrade Tableau Server and Server Upgrade.

Option 2

To ensure that Tableau Bridge runs as expected, configure Windows to allow all Tableau executables access to My Tableau Bridge Repository and all subfolders. See Allow specific apps to make changes to controlled folders for instructions. All executables in the following location should be allowed:

C:\Program Files\Tableau\Tableau Bridge\bin\

Controlled folder access is preventing one or more of Tableau's executable files from writing to the My Tableau Bridge Repository. Additionally, this behavior was related to a known issue (ID: 938269) and it has been fixed in Tableau Server 2019.3 and later versions.
