Subscription whose frequency is set to "When Data Refreshes" may not be sent when the backgrounder process gets restarted

Issue

Subscription set to "When Data Refreshes" may not work when the backgrounder process gets restarted just after the refreshing extract.

Environment

  • Tableau Server

Resolution

Possible workarounds are:
1. Change the frequency of the subscription to "On Selected Schedule".

2. Make sure Tableau Server meets the minimum production hardware recommendations to avoid the unexpected termination of SRM.
Lack of CPU or memory resources can cause the backgrounder processes to be reset. Consider upgrading the server environment if necessary. 

Cause

This may occur when the backgrounder process is restarted upon unexpected SRM termination, or server down just after the refresh extract.
