When upgrading a .twbx with embedded extracts created from SQL Server, the refresh is very slow to complete compared to the same extract in 10.5.

  • Microsoft SQL Server

Edit the data source, and hide any new fields that have been brought in before refreshing the extract.

Tableau 2018.1 and newer versions recognize some SQL Server spatial data types which were not recognized by previous versions.
Although extracts created in Tableau 10.5 did not query for these fields, after the extract is upgraded to 2018.1 and refreshed, any of these spatial fields present in the data source will be brought into the extract. Querying for these additional fields can increase the extract's refresh time.
