Salesforce Dates Converting to UTC in Tableau Desktop
Published: 04 Jul 2018 Last Modified Date: 15 May 2019
Issue
When using a data source with data stored in a particular time zone and then connecting to Tableau Desktop, the date data may not be accurate according to the originally intended time zone.
For example: if Salesforce data is stored with Mountain Time and the Tableau Desktop workbook is configured with the Automatic Locale setting, then the timestamp values appear in UTC in Tableau Desktop and each are off by six hours.
Environment
Tableau Desktop
Salesforce.com
Resolution
Use calculated fields to adjust the time field values in Tableau Desktop. To view example, see the following articles in the Tableau Knowledge Base:
The Salesforce API that Tableau Desktop uses to connect to Salesforce data converts date and datetime fields into Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).
