"Remember password" Option Does Not Retain Data Source Password on Tableau Server Users Prompted Every Time

Issue

When users browse to a workbook where the data source was published with "Prompt user" authentication, the option "Remember Password" does not retain the data source password on Tableau Server. Instead, users will be prompted for the password every time they view the workbook even though they have selected "Remember Password".

Environment

Tableau Server 2021.4 or higher

Resolution

Work with your Tableau Server administrator and follow this document to make sure that the option "Allow users to save passwords for data sources" is selected.

Note: Restarting Tableau Server is not required after this change.
