Refreshes Fail in Tableau Bridge 2018.2 with Error: "Tabprotosrv cannot start or shut down unexpectedly"

Issue

Extract refreshes scheduled in Tableau Bridge 2018.2 may fail with the following error:

status code=3001. Failed to refresh data source: <data source name> due to the followin gerror:
IPC_NamedPipe::Select(WaitForMultipleObjects): Timeout. Tabprotosrv cannot start or shut down unexpectedly.
Unable to connect to the server "<server name>".
Check that the server is running and that you have access privileges to the requested database.

Refreshes in Tableau Bridge 2018.1 and Tableau Desktop 2018.2 succeed.

Resolution

Download and install Tableau Bridge 2018.3.0.18.1016.2147 or newer from Tableau Bridge Releases.

Cause

This behavior is related to known issue ID 808869 and was resolved in the 2018.3.0.18.1016.2147 release of Tableau Bridge, and all more recent versions.
