When using a reference/constant line in Tableau Desktop, the line does not appear in the view despite being present and having solid 100% opaque color formatting. The line can still be edited.

Tableau Desktop

Make sure the reference line has not been turned off, or set to "None" in one of the other sections' formatting.
  1. Right-click in the View > Format > Lines  (In 10.0 and newer versions, three lines. In earlier versions, a paintbrush icon.)
    • Check under Sheet, Rows and Columns to ensure that Ref Lines is not set to "None".
  2. Format > Reference Lines
    • Make sure Line is not set to "None".

The formatting for reference line was set to None at the Workbook or Format menu level.
Formatting options set through the "Format" menu on the tool bar, or right-clicking on the view override the formatting options set by right-clicking and editing the reference line itself.
