Query Continues on Database After Task Cancelled in Tableau Desktop

After you cancel a task (for example extract refresh) in Tableau Desktop, the query is still being executed in the database. If the query is complex, the connection can remain open on the database for a longer time than expected.
Work with your database administrator to one of the following:
Terminate the connection from database side
Configure the maximum execution time on database side
When you cancel a query in Tableau Desktop, Tableau Desktop sends a cancel command to the database. Not all databases obey this cancel command.
