Password Reset Fails With Error "Old password is incorrect" If Username Contains Space

Issue

In Tableau Server using local authentication configuration, after the administrator selected "Forcing Password Update" for a user, if the username contains space, "Old password is incorrect" error will occur and the user can't reset the password at the next sign in.

Resolution

Workaround 1
Upgrade to Tableau Server 2019.4.8, 2020.1.5, 2020.2.2, or a later maintenance release.

Workaround 2
For existing users, ask the Tableau Server administrator to change the password. For more information, see View, Manage, or Remove Users

Workaround 3
For new users, do not include space in the username.
