Non-SSL Requests are Made When Using Maps

When using maps in Tableau Desktop, one of the files needed for the functionality is requested from the mapping servers using an unsecured request.


  • Tableau Desktop 2019.2.0


Upgrade to Tableau Desktop 2019.3.1 or later

or in the meantime there is a workaround:

Add the port specification ":443" to the end of in the .tms file, for example:
<connection class="MapboxVector" data-url="v4" offline="" params-url="" port="443" server="" url="styles/v1"/>

This file can be found in Documents\My Tableau Repository\Mapsources.


This is a known issue what is fixed in a recent version of Tableau Desktop.
