When running Tableau Desktop on non-persistent virtual machines, you are required to enter the product key every time the application is started.

  • Tableau Desktop 10.4 and earlier versions
  • Non-Persistent Virtual Machines

Option 1:

Upgrade to Tableau Desktop 10.5 or a newer version to use the Virtual Desktop Support. For more information, see Configure Virtual Desktop Support.

Option 2:

For Tableau Desktop 10.4 and earlier versions.
  • Use a hosted-virtualization or Terminal Server solution, such as Microsoft RemoteApp or Citrix hosted applications. In these solutions, Tableau Desktop is installed on and run from a RemoteApp or Citrix server, and the application can correctly access licensing information.

Support for non-persistent virtual environments was added in Tableau Desktop 10.5.

Additional Information
