Issue
When a query is cancelled on the database due to some time limit configured either in Desktop or on the database itself, the following behaviors would occur:
You would not receive any notification
The cancelled query returns the following statement: SQLSTATE_EXEC_QUERY_CANCELED
A blank view would appear if you had never loaded such view in the past
A partially grayed-out view would display if such view had been previously loaded

Upgrade to Tableau Desktop 10.5.3, 10.3.10, 10.4.6 or a later version. For more information, see Upgrading Tableau Desktop in Tableau Help.
Cause
This behavior is related to a known issue (ID: 674665) which has been fixed in a recent release of Tableau Desktop.
