No Debug Lines Present in Log after Setting vizqlserver.trustedticket.log to debug

Issue

After setting the configuration key vizqlserver.trustedticket.log_level to debug as described in Troubleshoot Trusted Authentication, the change doesn't seem to have an effect and no debug lines related to trusted authentication are found in logs.

Environment

Tableau Server 2021.4
Tableau Server 2022.1
Trusted Authentication
 

Resolution

As a workaround, use the following commands to set the entire vizqlserver process log level to debug:

tsm configuration set -k vizqlserver.log.level -v debug
tsm pending-changes apply

Note: Be cautious when using this workaround, using only as needed and monitoring closely. The above steps will cause the debug trusted authentication logging to be emitted. However, they will also enable non-trusted authentication debug logging which can cause significant log size increase in an environment with high vizqlserver usage, like a production environment. This increase could lead to running out of free disk space which can cause unrecoverable degradation of Tableau Server. 

Cause

This behavior is related to a known issue which is currently under investigation.
