New User Cannot Log In to Tableau Online

After you are added as a new user, you don't receive a Tableau Online welcome email and are unable to log into Tableau Online.


Tableau Online


Work with your Tableau Online administrator to complete the below steps. 
Note: These steps should be followed even if the desired end result is to log in with SSO. 
  1. Ensure that your user account is set to use TableauID authentication. See Set the User Authentication Type for more information. 
  2. Navigate to and create an account using the same email that was added to Tableau Online.
  3. Log into Tableau Online with the credentials used above to create the TableauID account. 



A TableauID is required in order to log into Tableau Online. 


Additional Information

This solution will only work for new users. Users who have already created TableauIDs do not need to create new TabelauIDs. 
When creating the TableauID, make sure to use the same email address that was added to Tableau Online. 
If the desired end result is to log in using SSO, your Tableau Online administrator can change the authentication type after you log in successfully with TableauID.
