MSAS Quick filter of string value with double quote shows error "Analysis Services database error 0x80004005: Query(<number>,<number>) The syntax for "<StrValue>" is incorrect"

Issue

  • When a string field of a MSAS datasource with double quotations is filtered, the below error happens:

Error Code: A7AED4D2 "Analysis Services database error 0x80004005: Query(<number>,<number>) The syntax for "<StringValue>" is incorrect"

  • The issue happens with "Multiple Values (custom list)" and "Wildcard Match" filters

 

 

Environment

  • Tableau Server 2021.3.7, 2022.3, 2023.1.2
  • Tableau Desktop 2021.3.7, 2022.3, 2023.1.2
  • MSAS (Microsoft Analysis Service)

Resolution

Upgrade to Tableau 2021.4.23 or newer version.
