Microsoft ODBC Driver Version 18 Not Working with Azure OAuth on Tableau Server

Issue

Not able to setup OAuth for Azure data and receive the following errors when trying to connect:

Custom OAuth is not configured for this datasource. Learn more. (errorCode=170001)
 An error occurred while communicating with Azure SQL database. Invalid username or password.

Environment

  • Tableau Server 2021.3

Resolution

Use the driver available on the Tableau website for the Azure SQL database connector (V17).

Cause

The wrong driver version was installed on Tableau Server.
