Environment
- Tableau Desktop
- Microsoft PowerPivot
Resolution
In Microsoft PowerPivot, change the number format of the column that you want to import as a measure to Decimal Number or Whole Number. For more information, see Set the Data Type of a Column on the Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN) and Set the data type of a column in Power Pivot in Microsoft Office Online.Cause
Tableau does not detect measure formatting from Microsoft PowerPivot unless the data is formatted as decimal or whole numbers.Additional Information
- You must apply decimal number or whole number formatting to every measure in the PowerPivot file that is formatted as a number in order to import the field into Tableau Desktop correctly.
- If the measures used are calculations that rely on other fields, these other fields must also be set to decimal or number, even if they are hidden and do not themselves display in Tableau Desktop.
