License Expiration Date Is Not Updated Upon Activating The License Via Lblm From Tableau Desktop On Tableau Cloud

Issue

When you are using LBLM (Login-based License Management) and having renewed the expiration of Tableau Cloud, the licensed expiration date showing in Tableau Desktop is not updated as the newest subscription term, but showing the previous expiration.

 

Environment

  • Tableau Desktop
  • Tableau Cloud
  • Login-based License Management

Resolution

Two weeks (or less) prior to the current expiration date, open Tableau Desktop to view the new Tableau Cloud expiration date. 

If Tableau Desktop has not been opened during this two week period, when opening Tableau Desktop, simply sign into your Tableau Cloud site which performs a new activation.  The expiration date is now updated.
 

Cause

This is currently by design. Tableau Desktop will update the LBLM license information two weeks before the previous expiration date is reached.
