Error "Internal error connecting to the endpoint <path> for automatic logon" when using TSM CLI command

Issue

When using TSM CLI commands the following error occurs:

Internal error connecting to the endpoint '\\.\pipe\tab-controller-login-8850' for automatic logon.

Environment

Tableau Server
TSM Command Line

Resolution

Run tsm login command to authenticate first and then run the command you initially received the error with.

Example:

tsm login -s <server_name> -u <account_name>

Cause

When the TSM commands are run from a node in a cluster where the Tableau Server Administration Controller service is not running, the session need to be authenticated with the Tableau Server Administration Controller service on the remote computer before the command can be executed.
