IE Requires Additional SAML Sign-In with Embedded SalesForce View

After signing into the IdP for both SalesForce and Tableau Server, the Tableau embedded view requests the end user to sign-in again when using Internet Explorer.  It is expected that the end user should not have to sign-in again.


  • Tableau Server

  • SAML

  • Internet Explorer

  • SFDC canvas adapter


1. Open Internet Explorer
2. Select 'Tools -> Internet Options'
3. Select the 'Security' tab
4. For the Internet zone being used uncheck 'Enable Protected Moded'
5. Select 'Apply' and 'OK'.
6. Restart Internet Explorer

The re-authentication request may be expected behavior. Please check with your IdP.
