Hyperlinks Intermittently Unclickable or Do Not Load Using Internet Explorer

When using Internet Explorer and attempting to hover over a hyperlink in Tableau Server or Tableau Online in list view, the hyperlink is unresponsive or cannot be clicked.


  • Tableau Online
  • Tableau Server 10.3.0 - 10.3.1
  • Internet Explorer
  • Windows 7


Option 1

Upgrade Tableau Server to version 10.3.2. For more information, see Upgrading Tableau Server

Option 2

Use one of the following workarounds:
  • Use an alternate browser such as Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.
  • If using Internet Explorer, move the mouse slightly to the left or right of the hyperlink, and then back on the hyperlink, to make the link active.
  • Right-click the hyperlink and click "Open" or "Open in New Tab/Window".


This behavior is related to a known issue with ID 659705 that has been fixed in a later version.
