Hitting [Enter] in the Subscription Subject Field Unexpectedly Saves the Subscription Instead of Finalising a Japanese String

When hitting the Enter key to finalize a Japanese string in the subject line of the subscribe dialog, the subscription is unexpectedly saved with the initial string typed in.

  • Tableau Server 9.2 or above
  • Tableau Online

Option 1

Upgrade to Tableau Server 10.0.3 ; 9.3.9 or 9.2.14. For more information, see Upgrading Tableau Server.

Option 2

Avoid using IME to input Japanese characters, instead copy and paste.

This behavior is related to a known defect (ID: 527076) that has been fixed in the recent releases of Tableau Server.

Additional Information

Japanese strings are entered as phonetic characters and then 'finalised' to the appropriate kanji characters. Hitting Enter finalises the string in all other areas, but not in the Subscription subject field.
