Highlighters Disappear from Dashboards After Replacing a Data Source

After you have replaced a data source, the highlighter box of your dashboard is blank and you are unable to interact with it. 


Tableau Desktop 10.2 and later versions


Option 1

Upgrade to Tableau Desktop 2018.1. For more information, see Upgrading Tableau Desktop in Tableau Help.

Option 2

As a workaround, please follow the steps below:
  1. Delete the highlighter box that is blank.
  2. Add a new highlighter by going to Analysis > Highlighters.


This behavior is related to a known issue (ID: 681797) which has been fixed in a recent release of Tableau Desktop.
