Issue

Tableau Public visualizations connected to Google Sheets do not sync automatically as expected. Even when a user selects “Keep my data updated with Google Sheets every day”, the setting does not persist day-to-day, and the Google Sheet data source does not refresh daily.

Environment

Tableau Public

Resolution

This behavior is caused by a known issue, ID 1098002, which is currently under investigation.

As a temporary workaround, republish the visualizations connected to Google Sheets to your Tableau Public profile using Tableau Desktop. Make sure to select “Keep my data updated with Google Sheets every day” when saving.

Cause

This behavior is caused by a known issue, ID 1098002, which is currently under investigation. This issue is related to the Web Editing functionality. When a user edits a visualization and saves the changes within the Tableau Public website, the schedule to refresh the Google Sheet extract stops.

Additional Information

Google Sheets is a popular connection used on Tableau Public, as it is the only connector that supports daily extract refreshes.
