Filter States from Previous Session are Retained in a New Session

When you click on an embedded hyperlink (in a dashboard published to Tableau Server or Tableau Online) to start a new session, you notice that the dashboard's filter state is the same as the previous session.

  • Tableau Server
  • Tableau Online

The URL used in the hyperlink to the other workbook's dashboard is explicitly including the #N ending (where N is an integer). Remove the #N from Tableau links when using them as hyperlinks in your workbooks.

For example:
  • Change: http://localhost/views/simplemaplegend/Sheet2?:render=false#6
  • To: http://localhost/views/simplemaplegend/Sheet2?:render=false

This hash integer is used by Tableau Server and Tableau Online to mark different view configurations so that different configuration states can be tracked independently among different browser sessions. Explicitly using them may open non-default view configurations when they are clicked.
