QuickBooks Online extract refreshes fail when using "saved credentials" published to Tableau Cloud or Tableau Server 2022.3 with the following error:

No realm ID is detected

  • Tableau Cloud
  • Tableau Server 2022.3
  •  QuickBooks Online

1. Publish the QuickBooks data source from Tableau Desktop to Tableau Cloud or Tableau Server with the Embed Password credentials option.
2. Do not edit or change (and save) the data source connection in Tableau Cloud or Tableau Server for this data source.
3. Schedule Extract refreshes on this data source and verify they are succeeding.

The behavior is related to a Known Issue with ID 1470029 that is currently under investigation.

Additional Information

  • QBO extract refresh using saved credentials is successful on Tableau Server 2022.1 and older.
  • Issue occurs with QBO extract when using "saved credentials for data sources". This can be configured either by the web interface or via Tableau Desktop if the saved credentials already exists, both will reproduce the error.
  • Issue does not occur if PASSWORD is embedded via Tableau Desktop (refresh is successful).
