Issue

After upgrading Tableau Server to 2020.1, extract refresh fails with the following error:

"Connectionless Failure (Status code = 10000, Error processing <path to statistical file>
Invalid file, or file has unsupported features The table "[TableauTemp].[table_name.sas7bdat]" does not exist. Unable to connect to the Statistical File server". Check that the server is running and that you have access privileges to the requested database."

or when opening SAS statistical files in Tableau Desktop/Prep, the following error is displayed:

"....File has an unsupported compression scheme...."
"...The table temp...does not exist....."

Environment

  • Tableau Server 2020.1
  • Tableau Desktop 2020.1
  • Tableau Prep Builder 2020.1
  • SAS (*.sas7bdat), SPSS (*.sav), and R (*.rdata, *.rda) data files.

Resolution

Decompress files first with another program, such as Gzip or WinZip, before you connect with Tableau or use a different compression scheme to make the file readable for Tableau.

Cause

As of version 2020.1, Tableau no longer supports statistical files compressed with SASYZCR2.
