Issue

When using a calculation which contains a field from a secondary data source, the following error may appear when attempting to view data for a grand total:

Error in parameters for command 'view-data' missing: selector

Environment

  • Tableau Desktop

Resolution

There are currently three possible workarounds:
  1. Use cross data base joins instead of data blending.
  2. Wrap the secondary data source field in the calculation in a LOOKUP() function. For example, if the original calculation is:
    • SUM([Sales]) + SUM([<secondary data source>].[Profit])
then change the calculation to:
  • SUM([Sales]) + LOOKUP(SUM([<secondary data source>].[Profit]),0)
  1. Right-click on the Grand Total and select 'View Data...' instead of left-clicking and selecting View Data in the tooltip.
