Issue

Error when opening existing workbooks:

"Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'ExportImageDialogTitle' of undefined."
Or

Error when creating new workbooks:

"TypeError: tab.Strings is undefined."

Language settings will be blank and an error message appears when opening workbooks after upgrading from 2019.3.0 to 2019.3.1 or later if  Language setting = "Italiano" before the upgrade.

Environment

  • Tableau Server 2019.3 or later
  • Tableau Online 2019.3 or later
  • Language Setting = Italian (it-IT)

Resolution

Update the Language setting back to “Italiano” will fix the workbook error message. Follow these steps:

  1. Go to My Account Settings
  2. Select Language = "Italiano"
  3. Click Save Changes
Italian Language Selection

On-prem fallback language settings

Tableau Server Admins who set the fallback language for all users to "Italiano" before the upgrade may also need to reset to "Italiano" after the upgrade. Follow these steps:
  1. Go to Manage all sites
  2. Choose Settings
  3. Select Language = "Italiano"
  4. Click Save
Admin Italian Language Selection

Cause

Support for Italian is only available in Tableau versions 2019.3 and later.

The language code has changed from 2019.3.0 to 2019.3.1.  Because of this 2019.3.1 change, users may see an error message when they open workbooks on Tableau Server, if their User Language setting was set to "Italiano" before the upgrade.
