Issue

Error "Unauthorized/Forbidden" occurs after modifying the published Databricks connection information via Web Edit Connection

Environment

  • Tableau Cloud
  • Databricks

Resolution

Workaround

1. Create a new published data source, for example, called databrick1.
2. Create a new workbook and connect to the published data source created in step 1.
3. New published data source to connect to databrick2, and save it as the same data source name in step 1.
Using this workaround, It's required to modify the published data source by overwriting it with the new data source connection details, and don't need do anything for workbooks.
For the existing published workbooks which connect to databricks directly, you may download it and open it in Tableau Desktop, then change the data source connection to the published data source through the method 'Replace Data Sources'.

Cause

This issue is under investigation by the development team.

Additional Information

For comparison, it's successful to make the data source connection after modifying the Databricks connection information within Tableau Desktop, for example, HTTP Path, etc.
