When installing Tableau Desktop, the following error may occur:

There is not enough space on the disk.

Environment

  • Tableau Desktop
  • Windows 10

Resolution

Check to see whether any of the hard drives are full:
  1. Press the Windows Key and the R Key (Win+R) at the same time.
  2. In the Open box, type msinfo32 and click OK.
  3. When the System Information window comes up, navigate to System Summary > Components > Storage > Drives.
  4. In the list of drives, verify that at least one of the drives has 0 bytes free space.

Once you have identified the disk that is full, consult with your IT team on how you can free up disk space. The following steps may help:
  1. Press the Windows Key and type 'clean'(without quotes).
  2. Select 'Disk Cleanup' in the search results.
  3. In the Disk Cleanup dialog box in the Description section, click 'Clean up system files'. You might be asked for an admin password or to confirm your choice.
  4. If prompted, click the drive that you want to clean up, and then click OK.
  5. In the Disk Cleanup dialog box, on the Disk Cleanup tab, select the check boxes for the file types that you want to delete, and then click OK.
  6. In the message that appears, click Delete files.
