When starting Tableau Bridge and the repository is located on a network share drive, the following error occurs:

Tableau Bridge configuration is invalid. Verify configuration settings and credentials

  • Tableau Online
  • Tableau Bridge
  • Network Share Drive

Try restoring the default location of the Documents folder to where the Tableau Bridge Repository is created by default.

Note: These steps may affect other applications or permissions dependent on the shared drive Documents folder, especially if managed by a local IT department or policy. Consult your IT if you are unsure, if these steps should be followed.
  1. Quit any open instances of Tableau Bridge.
  2. Uninstall Tableau Bridge.
  3. Delete or rename the My Tableau Bridge Repository folder from the Documents folder on the network share drive.
  4. Navigate to the install location of Tableau Bridge (e.g. C:\Program Files\Tableau) and delete the Tableau Bridge folder.
  5. Go to the network share drive, right-click the Documents folder > select Properties > select the Location tab > select Restore Default button to reset the Documents folder location to the same drive where Tableau Bridge is installed.
  6. Download and install Tableau Bridge on the machine.
  7. Start the Tableau Bridge client.

Tableau Bridge does support having its repository in an external location from the machine running Tableau Bridge, however there are some unknown environment factors that may cause issues when using a non-default repository location.
