Issue
When starting Tableau Server, the following error occurs:
The cluster is above its license capacity, some workers may be unlicensed
Environment
Tableau Server 10.5.0
Distributed environment
Resolution
Option 1
As a Tableau Server Administrator, upgrade to Tableau Server 10.5.1. For more information, see Upgrading Tableau Server in Tableau Help.
Option 2
Use the following workaround:
On the computer running Tableau Server, open a command prompt as an administrator and navigate to the Tableau Server bin folder (located by default at C:\Program Files\Tableau\Tableau Server\<version>\bin) and run the following commands:
tabadmin stop tabadmin set worker0.hyper.enabled false tabadmin config tabadmin start
Cause
This behavior is related to a known issue (ID: 733425) which has been fixed in a recent release of Tableau Server.
Additional Information
When attempting to decommission the Data Engine via Configure Tableau Server, you might notice that the 'Data Engine' option is not enabled (Grayed out) but under the Data Engine tab, it will show Yes.
